About Jane-Ellen Robinet
I am an editor and writer living in Pittsburgh PA. Trained as a journalist, I know how to ask the right questions to get the right information. It is key to being an insightful editor and writer in the communications field. Whether the task is revising a CEO’s opinion piece or an annual report—or writing for a start-up firm’s website, I assess the whole picture for context. I double-check that last hazy fact.
I have developed a broad base of knowledge while writing about—or working within—academic medicine, higher education, global business, healthcare, state government, and the legal industry. Adding a global component to my perspective are extensive travels through Europe and a backpacking journey through parts of Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
Early in my career, I worked in Brussels and Tokyo as a copy editor and news editor, respectively, for The Wall Street Journal. Other early-career experiences included serving as the state Capitol correspondent for the Pittsburgh Press and as the healthcare beat reporter for the weekly Pittsburgh Business Times. I expanded into the communications field several years ago, including two positions at the University of Pittsburgh.
I can develop an intellectual interest in almost any topic; I am a people person who can connect with just about anyone. I am very good at “reading the room.”
Other tidbits … I knew by 7th grade that I wanted to be an editor and writer. … Items you will always find in my kitchen: mild-to-pungent French and Italian cheeses, dark-roast coffee, and Diet Coke. … My dream house is somewhere in Provence—not far from fields of lavender.
